Hi, I’m Maria!
I’m a Venezuelan wife and mom of two boys, living in Houston, Texas since 2015. My creative journey began the following year, shortly after having my first baby. While navigating long days at home, I discovered calligraphy and it quickly became a therapeutic outlet I couldn’t put down. What started as a personal passion soon turned into requests, orders, and eventually a growing business.
Not long after, I expanded into wedding invitations, taking advantage of my background in marketing and advertising, and art direction in that field. Blending my love for design with calligraphy, watercolors, and illustration, allowed me to develop a signature style that feels both timeless and personal.
Creating is truly my passion, and I feel grateful every day to design meaningful pieces that bring joy to my clients and play a part in their most cherished celebrations.

Behind the name
In 2017, I started So Crafty Studio as a creative project offering a variety of handmade products and services. Over time, my vision evolved, and so did the business. What began as a small passion project has now grown into something bigger, and with that growth came a new name and identity: Orchid Studio.
Why Orchid? Well, there are several reasons close to my heart. Orchids have always been one of my favorite flowers, and in 2016 my husband gave me one as an anniversary gift (the first we celebrated here in the United States), which made it more meaningful to me. Beyond that personal memory, the orchid is also Venezuela’s national flower, which connects me to my roots and identity. And lastly, symbolically, orchids represent love, luxury, beauty, and strength, and those are all qualities that I strive to reflect on every design and product I create
